How We Think About Your Privacy on ZeroPix

Private accounts, who can see what, and what we do (and do not) do with your photos. A plain-language walkthrough of the privacy choices built into ZeroPix.

Privacy settings are often buried, written in legal language, or scattered across half a dozen screens. We'd rather just explain plainly, in one place, what the privacy controls on ZeroPix actually do.

Separate controls, not one big switch

Rather than a single account-wide mode, Settings → Privacy lets you set, independently, who can mention you, who can tag you, who can message you, and who can see your story. Each of those can be opened up to everyone, narrowed to your followers, the people you follow, both, or no one at all. That's deliberate: who should be able to message you and who should be able to see your story are different questions, and we'd rather you answer them separately than trust one switch to cover both.

Who can message you

You control who can start a conversation with you: everyone, only people you follow, or no one outside your existing conversations. Messages from people outside that circle land in a separate requests list — they don't appear in your main inbox, and the sender can't tell whether you've seen the request until you accept it.

Blocking and muting are different tools

In plain words Muting silences notifications from a conversation without anyone knowing. Blocking removes the connection entirely, and does so quietly — the other person isn't notified.

Muting a conversation quietly turns off notifications for that thread — the other person isn't told, and nothing changes on their side. Blocking is more complete: it removes any follow relationship between you in both directions, prevents them from viewing your profile or posts at all, and stops them from being able to message or find you in search — again, without notifying them that anything has changed.

What we do with your photos

When you upload a photo, we store and serve the version you uploaded — optimised once, as we've written about separately, but not re-purposed, scanned for advertising targeting, or sold to third parties. Deleting a post removes it from your profile and from the feeds of the people who follow you; deleting your account removes your content according to the timeline in our Privacy Policy.

Your data, in your control

From Settings, you can log out of every other device in one step whenever you want to be sure only you are signed in, and you can permanently delete your account if you choose to. Neither requires contacting support. A self-serve data download and a per-device session list aren't available yet — if you need either in the meantime, reach out and we'll help directly.

The bottom line

Privacy on ZeroPix isn't a single toggle — it's a set of specific, separate controls for who sees your posts, who can message you, and who can find you at all. We'd rather you understand each one than trust a single "private mode" switch to do everything.
